Athlete Assistance Program

Program Overview

The London Runner Athlete Assistance Program is designed to support National Level distance runners who are committed to work towards their full athletic potential. The program is a coordinated effort between LRDC coaches and specialty retail partners Runners’ Choice and New Balance London, in conjunction with New Balance, as well as physiotherapy partners CBI Health. The London Runner AAP is the high performance segment of the London Distance Project.

Established in 2011, the London Runner Athlete Assistance Program has helped athletes earn Canadian or Canadian Junior Championship medals over 1,500m, 5,000m, 10,000m, Half Marathon, and Cross Country. London Runner AAP athletes have represented Canada on National teams for Track & Field, Cross Country, and Road Running.

Thanks in part to the additional sponsorship of New Balance London - a new sponsor for 2013 - the London Runner AAP will expand significantly in size for 2013, featuring Elite, National, and Development tiers of support. The primary round of applications took place in December, 2012; a second round of athlete applications will occur in the spring of 2013.
